Getting started

Is it really free to start?

Yes. It is completely free to launch a ministry, campaign or organisation on Givese. There is no setup cost and no charge to create collections. Fees only apply when money actually comes in.

How long does setup take?

Most organisations are live within minutes once verification is complete. You bring the collections you already run and connect the account you already use.

Do we have to change our bank?

No. Givese connects to the account you already hold. You can point different collections at different accounts if that suits you, and nothing about your banking arrangements changes.

Will my bank account name be visible to people?

No. Donors and payers will typically see your organisation name during the payment process. This helps build trust and ensures they are giving to the correct recipient.

How many team members can I add?

Every account includes two team member seats as standard. If you need more, get in touch.

Do members need to download an app?

No. A link or a QR code is enough, and it opens in any browser. The app is there for people who want to see their giving history or manage a recurring gift themselves.

Fees and payouts

Why do you charge fees at all?

The fees go towards the technology that keeps Givese running and the team behind it, as well as settling third-party transaction charges. We have kept them in line with market rates so they stay fair.

What is the processing fee?

Every time a donation or payment is made, a processing fee is charged by our payment processor. It is similar to the charges a bank applies to a transfer.

Processing fees are charged by our payment partners, Paystack and Stripe. Givese does not receive any part of them.

What is the platform fee?

The platform fee is a small percentage of the total funds collected. It is deducted before payout and used purely to support our operations. See full pricing.

Who bears the fees?

For donations, the fees are borne by the organisation and deducted from the donation.

For payments, the organisation decides who bears the fees at the point of creating the collection.

How do withdrawals work?

There are no withdrawals on Givese. Funds are deposited into your account automatically, on your payout schedule. There is no withdrawal charge.

Ministries

Why not just use bank transfers?

Bank transfers work — until you need to know what a gift was for. Narrations get mistyped, gifts land in the wrong account, and someone spends Monday matching payments to purposes. Givese keeps the giving simple for members and does the matching for you.

Will this replace our church management system?

No, and it is not meant to. Givese handles giving, payments and the insight that comes from them. Rotas, attendance and kids check-in stay wherever you run them now.

What about members who still give in cash?

Most ministries run both. Givese handles everything given online, and cash carries on exactly as it always has. Some churches display a QR code where the offering is taken, so people can choose.

How does Gift Aid work?

Members make their declaration once, the first time they give. After that, every eligible gift is tracked and ready to claim, without anyone chasing a form. Gift Aid applies to UK ministries.

Can Givese handle multiple branches or campuses?

Yes. Each location can run its own collections and see its own numbers. You choose whether a consolidated view and oversight sits centrally or with each location.

Nonprofits

Do we need to be a registered charity?

No. Givese works for registered charities, community groups, foundations and campaigns alike. Registration only matters where a tax relief such as Gift Aid requires it.

Are we too small for this?

No. There is no minimum and no monthly fee. Plenty of organisations on Givese are run entirely by volunteers.

Will this replace our CRM or database?

No, and it is not meant to. Givese handles donations, payments and the supporter record that comes with them. Case management, volunteers and grant tracking stay wherever you run them now.

Can supporters fundraise on our behalf?

Yes. Give a supporter, a branch or a corporate partner their own link to share. Everything they raise goes to the same appeal, and you can see how much each one brought in.

Businesses and organisations

Can we take one-off payments as well as recurring dues?

Yes. Recurring dues, one-off payments, event fees and product sales all run through the same link. Nothing has to be set up as a subscription unless you want it to be.

What happens if a member's payment fails on renewal?

The member is notified and prompted to update their details, and the roster shows them as overdue rather than paid. Nobody has to notice it manually.

Will this replace our membership database?

It depends what you run one for. Givese holds a live record of who has paid, what they paid for and when they renew. Anything beyond payment — committees, qualifications, casework — stays wherever you manage it now.

Individuals

Do I need a registered charity or business?

No. Anyone can raise for a personal cause — a medical bill, tuition, a funeral, an emergency. You will be asked to verify your identity, which protects both you and the people giving.

What if I don't reach my target?

You keep everything you raise. The target is there to show people what you are working towards, not a condition of receiving the money.

Who can see my page?

Your page is public by default, so it can be found and shared — that is what helps a fundraiser reach beyond the people you already know. You choose what to include in your story and which photos to use.

Can others raise money for me?

Yes. Give a friend or relative their own link to share. Everything they raise goes to the same fundraiser, and you can see exactly how much each person brought in.

Donors and payers

Do I need an account to give?

No. A link or a QR code is enough, and it opens in any browser. An account is only there if you want to keep your giving history and manage recurring gifts yourself.

What if I cannot find my church or charity?

They may not be on Givese yet. You can let them know you would like to give this way — most organisations are live within minutes of signing up.

Can I stop or change a recurring gift?

Yes, and you can do it yourself. Change the amount, pause it for a while, or stop it altogether from the app. There is no phone call and nobody to ask.

What will the organisation see about me?

Your name and what you gave to, so they can send a receipt and thank you. Your card and bank details are never shared with them.

Can I give to more than one purpose at once?

Yes. Choose each purpose you want to support, set an amount against each, and pay once. They are recorded separately at the other end.

Can I give from outside the country?

Yes. Give in the currency you hold using the cards and payment methods you already have, and it reaches the organisation without a long wait. Available for organisations collecting in Nigeria.

Security and data

Does Givese hold our money?

No. Givese is not a bank and has no access to your funds. Payments are processed through secured gateways that move money directly from the payer's bank to yours.

Is our data safe?

Payments are handled by regulated providers, and data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Givese never stores card details. More on security and compliance.

Is our data ever shared or sold?

No. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with other organisations. Giving records belong to the organisation that collected them, and your data is never used to benchmark you against anyone else.

Still have a question?
